We are now launching the first course in TARA at the Karolinska Institutet in Sweden
How do we reverse the trend of declining mental health among young people?
Research shows that traditional treatment approaches often have limited long-term effects. This points to the need for new treatment models. That is why we are launching the course Training for Awareness, Resilience and Action (TARA). TARA is a neuroscience-informed group intervention for young people experiencing anxiety and depression.
In a large Swedish study, the TARA method demonstrated better outcomes than standard treatment. In this course, participants gain a solid neuro-scientific, contextual, and clinical foundation for understanding anxiety and depression in young people, and how the principles of TARA can be applied in a relevant and structured way.
A central part of the method is helping adolescents and young adults understand what influences their well-being and how they can move toward meaningful change. Rather than becoming stuck in problems, the focus is on developing self-regulation and cultivating meaning, connection, and agency.
The course is worth 7.5 ECTS credits and is aimed at clinically practicing psychologists, physiotherapists, physicians, healthcare counselors, nurses, and psychotherapists working with young people.

Here I describe more about what the course is about. This first time around the course will be in Swedish, next time in English.
